Grove Mill Chardonnay 2008
Winemaker's notes
Grove Mill’s Chardonnay starts well with an appealing and very attractive yellow colour in the glass.
Bouquet: Initially exhibiting strong straw and hay characteristics, typical of the variety. A little, very nice, French oak shows through with a little fig and some white button mushrooms from light yeast autolysis.
Palate: A very seamless entry onto the palate. Good texture and quite a complete mouth-feel. A nice clean exit from the palate with some oak and white peach aftertaste. Very persistent.
Viticulture
Main Harvest date: 28th March & 2nd April 2008

Vinification
Grapes were carefully selected for this Grove Mill wine. A portion of the free-run juice was barrel fermented for added complexity. Barrel maturation of a portion of this wine in French oak barriques has given it excellent structure and palate weight.

Residual Sugar: 1.9g/L
pH: 3.30

Wine & Food matches
This is a wine to enjoy equally well with or without an accompanying meal. Partners well with all things softly creamy; scallop risotto, sole or pork in a light cream sauce with button mushrooms.
Cellaring
Exciting in its youth, this wine will reach its best with two to four years cellaring.
