What is climate change?

Our commitment to carboNZeroCertTM and our sustainability ethos essentially relates to mitigating our impacts on climate change.

Climate change is occurring and we are doing our bit in abating impacts from the anthropogenic contributions toward climate change. Through all stages of our production process, from growing grapes to distributing finished product, we can measure, minimise and abate the unavoidable impacts of that process.

The overriding problem for society pertains to entities operating under a business-as-usual (BAU) scenario and emitting ever increasing levels of emissions into the atmosphere. These emissions are known as greenhouse gases (GHGs) and each has a specific global warming potential (GWP) and therefore carry specific importance in the realm of carbon accounting. These GHGs trap reflected heat within our atmosphere which drives the occurrence of extreme weather events, hence the term climate change. The resultant temperature change scenarios from this shift in our climate vary considerably and are dependent on what is known as feedback loops – to which one occurrence from climate change can have a flow on effect to intensify another (albeit positive or negative). These effects are distributed unevenly around the world and will affect some countries and cultures more than others.

By buying Grove Mill wines you are aiding in minimising your impact on climate change.
