Viticulture
We carefully harvest grapes from selected vineyards located in Marlborough's Wairau, Seventeen and Waihopai Valleys.
The shallow stony soils and micro climatic conditions of each of these vineyards deliver a range of unique characteristics, individually capturing the delicious fruity intensity for which Marlborough is renowned world-wide.
Vines are managed to create the fruit required. In the weeks leading up to harvest, Grove Mill's viticulture and winemaking team sample and taste the grapes from each vineyard to determine ripeness and readiness for harvest. This taste sampling allows our winemakers to develop an understanding of each wine's flavour profile well before any grapes reach the winery.
Just over 50% of Grove Mill's grape supply is from company owned or leased vineyards.
Grove Mill has dedicated growers who closely liaise with our viticulturist, to ensure our grape quality parameters are met for each vintage. Just under 50% of our grapes are sourced from our contract growers.
